Worship At St. Timothy's - The Future Is Here....

This fall at St.Timothy's we are making several changes to our worship pattern which we hope will find to be a blessing. These changes are fueled by four principles:

  • Our form of worship should be accessible as possible to newcomers who may have not background in Anglican forms of worship.
  • Language is crucial to our worship and we should preserve the beauty and majesty of the expression of our faith as found in our Prayer Books
  • Since Anglicans value getting as close to the early church pattern as possible, the form of worship found in the Book of Alternate Services (BAS) which reflect the findings of the most recent and best research is a very good model for our liturgy.
  • We need to pass onto our children the richness and power of our forms of worship.

Based on the four principles, the following changes will be made on a trial basis from September to December. Please feel free to make your comments known to John or Mark or any member of the Worship Committee as we work together to make worship at St. Timothy's meaningful to all.

  • All 9:15 services will be based on the BAS p. 185 form of worship.
  • The BAS p. 230 form of worship will be used on the 1st Sunday of the month at 8:00 and 11:00am and on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 8:00am.
  • The Book of Common Prayer (BCP) will be used at 11:00am on the 3rd Sunday of the month for the service of Morning Prayer.
  • The BAS p. 185 form will be used at 8:00 and 11:00am on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of the month.
  • Since it is important to teach our children the importance of the Eucharist, children will begin the 11:00am service downstairs. Parents may take their children directly to the East hall before the service begins. The children will join the rest of the congregation at the Offertory Hymn so that they can be with us for the Eucharistic Prayer.
